This is an essay dedicated to all who love cats as much as I do. Whenever I think of stray cats, I remember cities with ports, like Istanbul or even Rome, where people say cats exist in greater numbers to help exterminate mice. But I never imagined this was going to be such a typical scene on the streets of every city in Israel.
I have already imagined myself living in Den Haag inumerous times, not only because the cost of living is infinitely lower than the capital Amsterdam, but also because it has a very special personality, far from a certain chaos that inhabits Amsterdam. If I were living there, these would be the places I would certainly most often go to:
Amsterdam is the opposite of a consumerist city and influenced by regions such as Denmark, Sweden and Finland. The most interesting ones are small multibrand stores dedicated to items ranging from clothing to home accessories and cosmetics. It's where we find an excellent birthday gift for a friend or a treat for ourselves.
How long can we cope with boredom? Two or three days? Maybe a week or a bit more? I think that any of these options may be more than enough to acknowledge that being absorbed by tedium is one of the most frustrating feelings one can have. Now imagine one whole year.
Israel is one of the most wonderful places in the world. I was so amazed when I arrived in the country, because even though I had imagined that the experience could be really special, nothing compares to the pleasant surprises this country holds.
Just as you can’t miss Tel Aviv when going to Israel, the same can be said of Jerusalem. Similarly, you can’t understand, or at least begin to understand the history of Israel, without experiencing Jerusalem. I think it will never be possible to put into in words how intense, magical, energetic and beautiful this city is. And full of contrasts.
Just by looking at the photos, before visiting this archaeological site, I was struck by the blue of the sea and the grandeur of the ruins of what has been the scene of so many events since the time of Herod the Great. Its creation begins around 13 BC, when it was transformed into the capital and port region thanks to King Herod's will to have a palace of his own.
