Despite being a small city, Maastricht has a good range of hotels. Especially those "boutique" ones, which are supposed to have less rooms, careful service, low profile approach towards guests. There is something charming about these hotels, some of them called Bed&Breakfast. Here is a concise list where I have already stayed in that I consider worth to explore.
Every European city, regardless of its size, and that is home to a large and recognized university, has a different pace of life and a lively dynamic in its surroundings that keeps it attractive, even though the majority of the inhabitants are elderly. Located in the extreme southeast of Holland, Maastricht was founded by the Romans and is the oldest city in the country.
It was love at first sight. It has a very peculiar charm, with a countryside feeling, but full of pomp like a big city. It is difficult to explain what delighted me the most in this city that may be considered one of the most important ones in Holland, together with Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
Just as you can’t miss Tel Aviv when going to Israel, the same can be said of Jerusalem. Similarly, you can’t understand, or at least begin to understand the history of Israel, without experiencing Jerusalem. I think it will never be possible to put into in words how intense, magical, energetic and beautiful this city is. And full of contrasts.
Some call it a village, others a moshav, which means a kind of cooperative rural community. Bethlehem of the Galilee is better known today because, according to archaeologists, it was where Jesus Christ was born, and not in Bethlehem of Judea. It is just eight miles from the city of Nazareth, where according to biblical records, Mary and Joseph lived their lives.
Palermo doesn’t have a large offer of hotels. There are all types of hotels in the city, but I can’t recommend any because I have never stayed anywhere else other than a Bed & Breakfast or at a friend's house. When I first went to Sicily, it was a pleasant surprise to find a charming B&B named BB22, whose owner became a great and dear friend.
This is a very rich neighborhood, historically speaking. This is also where the beautiful Palazzo Reale is. The street market of which I speak in another article, Ballarò, is also located here, surrounded by old buildings, palaces and baroque churches. It's kind of decaying, because many buildings and constructions are so abandoned. Despite the fact that immigration is growing in this neighborhood, it is said that there is an attempt to revitalize it.
