I think we can all agree on something: to have a gelato goes far beyond a culinary delight. It also means to preserve and nourish interaction, conviviality, cultural and social exchange as well as bringing joy, comfort to the soul and freshness to the palate. I vividly remember when my Dad used to take me to the shopping mall’s ice cream parlor during wintertime just because, according to him, a good gelato is meant to be tasted regardless of the weather.
When touring the territory of Jordan, it will not necessarily be an invitation to consume. The coolest thing about this country is to explore the cultural and food richness and the different customs and aspects that govern society. But, there are small objects and accessories that can be very interesting to take home.
Amsterdam is the opposite of a consumerist city and influenced by regions such as Denmark, Sweden and Finland. The most interesting ones are small multibrand stores dedicated to items ranging from clothing to home accessories and cosmetics. It's where we find an excellent birthday gift for a friend or a treat for ourselves.
For the second Saturday in a row after my usual morning shopping, I took a seat in the same Israeli restaurant on the Westerstraat. The outside tables have the best sunlight for a little tan whilst this guarantees me the right spot for my anthropological experiment.
